The Spring Cup is an annual event between Bancroft School and Concord Academy in which many of the spring sports teams compete in an afternoon of competition and friendly rivalry. After a game is won, a point is awarded to the respective school, and the school with the most points at the end of the day takes home the cup.
On April 25, 2025, many of the CA spring athletics teams headed to Bancroft School. The weather was beautiful, making it the perfect day to be outside competing or spectating. CA had beaten Bancroft for the past three years, and the energy was high this year, as CA was eager to continue the streak. A fan shuttle transported people from CA to Bancroft to watch the games, creating a big crowd, usually only seen at home games.
The teams competing were Girls Varsity Lacrosse, Boys Varsity Lacrosse, Varsity Baseball, Boys Varsity Tennis, and Girls Varsity Tennis. CA won 5-0, with all the teams helping to secure the cup for the fourth time in a row. The final scores were: Girls Varsity Lacrosse 15-6, Boys Varsity Lacrosse 6-4, Varsity Baseball 6-4, Boys Varsity Tennis 5-0, and Girls Varsity Tennis 5-0.
The trophy represents every athlete’s hard work and passion for their sports, which is a testament to the students at CA. The win would not be possible without the amazing coaching staff and the hard work of Director of Athletics Sue Johnson P’20 and the rest of the athletic committee. Coming off a full sweep, the energy is electric, and the CA spring sports teams are ready to bring home the trophy again next year. CA will host the 2026 Spring Cup at the Moriarty Athletic Campus.
When asked about the atmosphere of the day, Girls Varsity Lacrosse Captain, Ella Connolly ’25, described that, “The energy at the fields made it such a fun environment to play in. Every team was in it for their own win, but also for the cup. I will miss playing on days like this the most next year.” The Spring Cup, as well as The Chandler Bowl in the fall and The Battle in the winter, are beloved traditions filled with school spirit and friendly rivalry. These competitions foster community and excitement as the school comes together to share a love of athletics. Go Green!
