The Concord Academy Fall Teams had an excellent season. After claiming the Chandler Bowl for the fourth year in a row, the teams enjoyed strong finishes to the regular season, and with three teams having postseason successes, it was overall a great season for CA.
Boys Varsity Soccer experienced an exemplary season, with a final record of 19-1. A week before the end of the season, they secured the EIL title, and, after suffering their first loss of the season a week later, they entered the postseason with the program’s fifth consecutive NEPSAC bid. After the No. 2 seed CA team beat No. 8 seed Greens Farms Academy and No. 3 seed St. Andrews School, they went on to overwhelm No. 5 seed, Holderness, in a spectacular 3-2 win, raising the Class C 2019 NEPSAC soccer tournament trophy.
Girls Volleyball also enjoyed a good season with Varsity starting slowly but coming back in the second half of their season to achieve a final record of 11-6. They had a daring comeback at the Chandler Bowl, losing the first two sets but coming back to beat Pingree 3-2. Girls JV Volleyball had a fantastic season as well, with a final record of 11-2. All of CA’s fall sub-varsity teams; JV Volleyball, Boys JV Soccer, and Boys Thirds Soccer, had successful seasons, with a combined record of 28 wins and a mere 3 losses.
The Cross Country teams also had a favorable season, with the Boys Varsity Team earning second place in EILs, with five runners achieving the title of league All-Star by finishing in the top 15. Boys Varsity co-captain, Reza Eshghi ’20 led CA to the finish, earning first place in the EIL race. The Girls Varsity Team came in 6th at EILs, with half of their runners posting personal records. At the NEPSAC Division III Championships, the Boys Varsity team finished third out of 20 teams, and Girls Varsity team had all of their runners post personal bests.
Girls Varsity Soccer continued to improve this season, with a final record of 2-10-2, while adjusting to a new coach. Girls Varsity Field Hockey also had a season of improvement, with two wins and a tie in their last five games.
Overall, CA’s fall teams had an amazing season and continued to improve as players and people throughout.
