Hey Larry,

'Tis the Holiday season, yay! Unfortunately, my bank account and grades are crying from me spending every free period sampling the new Starbucks and Dunkin treats rather than doing homework due tonight. How do I balance the yummy drinks and work, all while keeping my wallet and teachers happy?

Best Regards,

Sweet Treat Enjoyer

Hi Sweet Treat Enjoyer,

I get it, those drinks are good. But good grades and a healthy work ethic are just as important, too. Try doing your work as soon as it’s assigned, or, at a bare minimum, not saving it for the hour before it's due. In terms of your guilty pleasure, try to limit your sweet spending to once or twice a week.

Best,

Larry

Hi Larry,

The CCO (and every teacher, ever) has been nagging me to check my email, but it’s just too difficult! I try, but the emails keep piling up. It’s not my fault that all_school_FYI floods me with dozens of unnecessary emails a day, right? Right..?

Sincerely,

Inbox Procrastinator

Hey Inbox Procrastinator,

First of all, I’d go back to 9th-grade Orientation and organize that inbox. Add the Primary, Updates, and Forums categories, remember? If you’ve already done that but your inbox still feels too overwhelming, I’d go through it bit by bit. Read through them in chunks, and delete the ones you’ve already read, in addition to the irrelevant all-schools you don't care to read. At least once a week, I’m begging you.

Best of luck,

Larry

Larry,

I’m exceptionally and exceedingly COOKED. I’ve had around six “academic comeback” flops, and we’re only four months in. Worst of all, there’s a month left in the semester. I keep telling myself, “I’ll study later,” or “this will be my last missing assignment ever, trust me,” but it never happens. To put it lightly, I’m freaking out.

Help,

Not Locked In

Greetings Not Locked In,

Remember, actions speak louder than words. Don’t tell yourself you’ll do it later, or tonight, or tomorrow morning — do it now. Close those Instagram Reels, get up from your bed, and finish those assignments. You’ll thank yourself later, trust me. And remember, the more you do now, the more time you’ll have later to have fun.

Do your work,

Larry
