‘Sup Larry,

I can’t keep up with all my classes! I just started at Concord Academy, and there’s already so much homework. Apparently, it’s supposed to ramp up in the next few weeks, and I don’t think I can do it. Everyone else seems to be doing okay, too. What should I do?!

Help,

Doomed Underclassman

Dear Doomed Underclassman,

That sounds so stressful. Take a deep breath, though. Even though everyone else seems to be on top of everything, chances are, they’re just as stressed as you! You’ve got this. If you’re a ninth grader, remember that you have a pass/fail first semester, so there’s no pressure (at least not from the school). Also, remind yourself that there are so many people who can support you—teachers, your advisor, the ASC, and more. You could find a friend, visit Nero, and study together for a fun and productive free period :)

Remember, you can do this!

Sincerely,

Larry

Dear Larry,

Suddenly, college apps have gone from level three to ten. It’s so overwhelming! It’s only the start of the year, and suddenly everybody is so stressed about it, me included. I want to be accepted into my dream college, but it seems like I have to get a perfect score on the SAT and, on top of that, perfect grades to even be considered!! I don’t think I’m up for this. Please help.

Thanks,

Stressed Senior

Hey Stressed Senior,

First of all, no one’s perfect. All you can do is try your best. Besides, you are up for this! This will perhaps be the most stressful time of the year, but remember you aren’t going through this alone. Count on your parents, advisor, college counselor, guidance counselor, teachers, friends—there are so many people who’ve got your back! College doesn’t define who you are, so keep on being yourself. All you can control is working hard. We believe in you :)

Best of luck,

Larry
