As Concord Academy approaches the end of the school year, the current Student Head of School (HoS), Malik Traore ’25, and Student Vice Head of School (VHoS), Cam Levesque ’25, will soon conclude their fantastic year. The All-School Council is thrilled to announce its new HoS, May Zheng ’26, and VHoS, Averie Lee ’26, for the 2025-26 school year.
The CA community is eager to welcome May and Averie as their new student leaders. A current Head of House, Ejemen Omonzane ’25, remarked, “Seeing them from freshman to junior [year], they’ve really grown and adjusted to do what CA needs.” She continued, “Especially [because they] have experience with leadership positions, I can already see them doing an excellent job and helping CA grow to be better.”
May’s deep involvement in the CA community is well-suited for this role; she’s a performer in CA Singers and the mainstage musicals as well as an athlete on Girls Varsity Volleyball and Varsity Track and Field. “CA is a place where people can explore various things. There are opportunities here to do many things that I want and not sacrifice one for the other,” she said.
As a freshman class representative, sophomore and junior class president, and co-head of many clubs, May has much experience bringing people together and representing the student body. She has learned how to work efficiently in teams, and to fundraise and plan events such as the Sophomore Lock-in and Semi-Formal, but she has also encountered challenges. She mentioned, “I try to plan as much as possible, but there are always unprecedented things that I need to face as the events [unfold].” However, these challenges do not reduce her passion for leadership roles and set her up to embrace the role of HoS.
As a leader, May enjoys talking to her peers and getting to know everyone. The responsibilities of communication and outreach build strong connections between her and the faculty and students. “I get a lot more involved with the community than I would otherwise,” she remarked.
May has a fascinating plan for the new year. She wishes to make minor adjustments to the drop/add and scheduling policies. At the same time, she hopes to build on this year’s Council efforts by improving transparency between the Board of Trustees and students, clarifying how decisions are made and bringing more student voices to the board. She believes Council can have a bigger role in this communication process and spread more awareness to the student body of how much effort Council puts in behind the scenes. Overall, May hopes to strengthen community bonds and keep working to make CA a better place for everyone.
Averie is similarly engaged in the community. She is part of the music program at CA as a violinist and pianist, and is an athlete on Girls Varsity Volleyball and Girls Varsity Tennis. She also has plenty of leadership experience as a sophomore and junior class representative, and a co-head of Poetry Club and Big Data Club.
As a leader, she organizes events and fundraising efforts while striving to create an inclusive environment. “I wanted to emphasize that events are simply fun spaces for everyone to come out, and there’s no pressure to pay or have anything to offer,” she said, encouraging broad participation.
Additionally, Averie mentioned her love for the CA culture, especially seen during Club Expo. She commented, “It’s a great opportunity to talk to people you might not usually talk to, explore different interests, [and] interact with the whole community. And it’s a great way to introduce and welcome the freshmen to the CA community.”
Averie has many things she’d like to accomplish as VHOS. She wishes to bring some clubs back from inactivity, host more all-school events that foster a sense of community and belonging, and increase the communication between the administration and Council by making policies more clearly stated and transparent. Additionally, Averie hopes to introduce more community service opportunities—such as tutoring for kids and volunteering—to the student body and make these resources more accessible.
Over the summer, Averie and May will work on the New Student Orientation and create a timeline for next year’s planning. Previously working together as class president and representative, they are very excited to collaborate again and look forward to a great year.
