Navigating clubs at CA can be tough, especially with new clubs popping up every year. At Club Expo, there were a myriad of exciting new opportunities ranging from Computer Programming Club to Women Achieving Financial Literacy. While meeting times and goals will change throughout the semester, this article provides a comprehensive description of all new clubs at CA this year as of late September.
The CA branch of Never Fading Poppy Project (NFPP) is dedicated to honoring veterans through cardmaking and other activities. The club will regularly host events to make cards for veterans in hospitals and retirement homes, as well as distributing these cards and creating memorials. The Concord Academy Music Project Committee (CAMPC) incorporates both the Concord Academy Music Charity Organization (CAMCO) and the Colla Voce Project. The committee serves as a space for collaboration among music related clubs at CA. CAMCO aims to host monthly concerts promoting youth outreach music charities. All proceeds from concerts including tickets, voluntary donations, and club funds will be donated to Save The Music Foundation, an expansive music outreach organization that advocates for the spread of youth in music. The club is currently led by Henry Lei ’28 and Alvin Zhai ’28. The Colla Voce Project is dedicated to providing free music concerts and workshops to underrepresented youth communities in New England, as well as promoting general youth interest in music. The club’s co-heads are Zoe Weng ’28 and Monica Meng’28.
Women Achieving Financial Literacy (WAFL) provides an opportunity for students to delve deeper into topics ranging from economics to financial management. Through club meetings this year, co-heads Talor Haddad ’28, Aleta Sandoski ’27, and Rose Whaley ’27 plan to focus on learning the basics of money, the stock market, and the history of women in business, according to Sandoski.
The Tarita Foundation focuses on promoting and celebrating Asian American history in the U.S. Through their educational newsletter and social media videos, the Tarita Foundation shares literature and art, exposing people to an essential part of American culture. The club manages accounts on Instagram and Tiktok, and produces videos on significant events in Asian American history such as the history of Chinatowns in America. The club is currently led by Jeffery Liu ’28.
Computer Programming is a club dedicated to working on programming projects as a team and teaching people how to code. Potential plans include a mobile app designed to show student schedules, which will benefit the entire CA community. The club is run by Daniel Peregudov ’27, Milo Dubois ’28, and Chris Zhang ’27.
Physics Club will focus on participating in physics competitions and exploring the concepts and intricacy of physics. Two major competitions they plan on preparing for this year are Physics Bowl and F=Ma, the entrance exam for the United States Physics Olympiad. At club meetings, they also plan on discussing interesting concepts in physics such as quantum optics. The club is led by Boris Liu ’27 and Chaehyun Han ’27.
